Sophie was quiet for a moment, collecting her thoughts. She frowned as she tried to think of what to say, how to respond. No one had ever asked why she was the way she was. Sophie always tried to be as positive as possible, to try hard for everything so one day she might be good, really good at something.
She used to fear always being sick but since the quarantine there was a greater threat, one that was always nagging at the back of her mind, though she hid it well. There was nothing she feared more than losing her magic.
As soon as Sophie's thoughts arrived at the illness she tensed and quickly banished them back to a dusty corner in her mind and closed the door. Her shoulders relaxed and she smiled, though a bit shaky. "I don't want to think about gloomy things," she said, much quieter than her usual voice "Being stuck in this castle is one thing. But-" she paused and gathered her words "I don't want to live fearing things- I just want to be happy and everyone should try to be happy!" she looked up and straight in Tracey's eyes "Because all those people didn't die last year just so we could be all depressed, we owe it to them!"
