Dream #1
Ioan rolled over in the warmth of his bed, his eyes flashing open as a startling white light appeared outside their lids. He lifted his head, too sleepy still to wonder at the fact he was in the cottage in Talgarth. The light appeared to be coming from the window. Shuddering at how cold it was in the little house, he climbed quickly out of bed and walked over to the portal to discover a world blanketed in several feet of snow. The light was just the reflection of the sun. Around him, the house was silent, which meant that his parents were likely still in Cardiff, tying up loose ends before traveling down for the holidays. He'd missed them and only now began to realize just how much. Nonetheless, they'd be there soon.
The thought kept him grinning as he dressed in warm clothing: a t-shirt, hooded sweatshirt, jeans, and some comfortable snow boots with thick socks. He left his bed unmade and bounced down the stairs. This was his favorite place in the world and Talgarth was just as beautiful in the snow as it was in the bloom of spring. Small finches and other cold-weather birds sat huddled on the windowsills or hopped about the yard, lending more color to the otherwise white world.
Humming to himself, Ioan put on a pot of cocoa and lit the fire with his wand, which he'd found tucked in his back pocket. Funny, but he didn't remember putting it there. Ah well. The television set in the family room turned on by itself - not an unusual occurrence, with a wizard in the house - and Ioan overheard the local weatherman forecasting more snow in the early afternoon. Good then. Time for a short walk before the storm hit. Taking the cocoa and another jacket, he left the house.
The sunlight had all but disappeared when he came back, though it didn't seem as though more than an hour had passed. The sky was dark with clouds and looked ominous. He knew he should get inside before they opened up, but he stopped short at the path gate because someone was sitting on his front doorstep.
