Ioan's brow furrowed at the mention of Death Eaters, but he quickly schooled his expression. Yes, he was trying to be optimistic. There would be no hiding at the school this year, or so he hoped. He wrote out a few more lines in his notebook, these darker than the last and written with a harsher slant to the letters.
"Aye, that is," he said. "It's just that I doubt all of them are gone. That'll take time. But I think we will all be safe at Hogwarts."
He looked up at her through his lashes and smiled. Her happiness was infectious.
"What year are you? I don't remember having any classes with you. Granted, I wasn't at school last year."
