Astoria would have found his train of thought completely irrational. While she didn't like Madame Pomfrey, she at least trusted her to be good at her job. Though that might have been a foolish assumption considering Hogwarts' track record with... questionable employees. Still, she couldn't remember anyone dying under Pomfrey's care. And in any case, Astoria didn't think there was anything worse than losing her magic. Nothing anyone could do would be as bad.
She was relieved when he returned to his seat. He should see Pomfrey. And going on like it wasn't happening didn't help much. Astoria would know.
"Lying isn't going to change anything." Julian would still be sick and his magic would still disappear. "What's the point of keeping up the charade?" People would find out eventually. What was he planning to do in class? How would he explain the fact that he couldn't cast magic. Astoria frowned, not liking the fact that she had to be rational about this. Part of her was still fighting it as much as he was, making it difficult to give any good advice. Really, she didn't know what to do or say.
