Who: Astoria Greengrass & Julian Todd
What: Two sicklies
When: Monday night
Where: The Hospital Wing, unfortunately
Rating/Status: Low/Complete
Astoria had avoided the Hospital Wing as long as possible. She told herself it was because she couldn't stand Madame Pomfrey, she'd get better, really there was no need. But her magic was failing and she was tired and didn't want to be around people anymore. Not anyone who still had magic. Astoria hated them. It was unfair. It shouldn't have been her. And before Daphne, too. Her parents would hate her, she was convinced. This would be more proof of how much better Daphne was. It was irrational, yet Astoria couldn't help thinking about it. And it was much better than dwelling on how angry she was at herself. Magic was slowly draining out of her and there was nothing she could do to stop it.
The thought was a difficult one to process. So instead Astoria distracted herself by fiddling with the sheets she lay on, bunching the cloth between her fingers before smoothing it out once again. She had been tempted to accepted Sally's offer but the anger and resentment and the desire to keep her friend healthy won out. The anger would fade eventually but she wanted nothing to do with the guilt. Her magic would be completely gone within a few days and she would be set free. Until then she would just have to sleep or stare at the ceiling. Her only comfort was that she felt better, much better, after the potions Pomfrey had given her.
Still, this was boring and she almost wished she hadn't come here in the first place. Moving off the bed and towards the window, Astoria leaned against its frame. It had snowed, apparently. That was one thing she was glad to miss.
