Katie was unusually jumpy at the moment. Marcus' fingers on her back had made her almost mimic her reaction when he had first approached her. Katie was walking a thin, thin line of emotions at the moment. Leave to karma to have it be that around Marcus Flint. This Angelina thing had been such a huge problem, Katie rarely dealt with her own and it just had to be now, of all these little moments to add up to her eventual downfall.
Katie quickly pulled away from him, backing up again the wall. One hand was out keeping his at a distance, while the other kept hugging herself. "Stop asking me if I'm all right! Stop being so nice, stop not.. being you." She found herself yelling, practically screaming at him. "Just stay away! Arms length, didn't I tell you that before. Arms length. Just don't.. touch me!"
Katie didn't like having these conflicted emotions. Marcus' changed demeanor was not helping. She started questioning everything suddenly, and it just didn't make sense. Katie relied heavily on everything sorting out in a correctly managed fashion. Nothing was lately, and Katie desperately needed that order in her life. Why had she come back here? Was she that daft? She knew she couldn't handle it. Some rocks fell from the ceiling, posing no threat and she crumpled under pressure.
And Marcus was here to watch. She awaited the barrage of insults he had waiting for her. If he wanted to kick her while she was down, this might as well been it.
