Katie's face scrunched up grumpily as he laughed. He was laughing at her! She didn't appreciate it at all. Her cheeks flushed terribly. It was a legitimate question to ask, she argued with herself. And it was because he was a Slytherin and his name was Marcus Flint. She was positive he would be just as wary if the shoe was on the other foot. But he was making her feel bad. It wasn't allowed! Guilt tripping her over something she was sure he wanted something out of. Not sure how escorting her elicited a favor, but she was pessimistic.
Katie chewed at her lower lip, contemplating. He was dangerously close, and pinning her between the wall was very uncomfortable. She couldn't run away, she couldn't even try. Damn him. Eventually she locked eyes with him, her face incredibly stern. "Fine. But keep your distance. Arms length, the entire time." Katie gave him a abrupt push, hoping to catch him off guard. She wiggled her way out from between his arms, and stalked off down the hallway as quickly as possible. He'd follow. She did say yes.
Katie was embarrassed. He wasn't allowed to be that close. She even swore up and down to him that he needed to back off and now she was letting walk her to where she was sleeping all because of another creepy Slytherin. Maybe he would lure her with her gullibility. The doubts of him teaming with Bole crept back into her mind. Katie quickly fiddled to find her wand and keep her hand clasped around it, just in case.
Flint was stronger, brutal force. Perhaps Katie was much more nimble than him. Faster. She had been on the pitch. On solid ground, she was sure she could hex him before her could over power her physically. Katie quickly thought of irrational scenarios that could happen in the span of the walk so she would be prepared. She didn't like being so paranoid. It was because of the war, and because of the necklace incident. Things like that changed people -- Katie often wondered if it was for the worse.
She'd remain mute. Just because was walking with her didn't mean she had to carry on a conversation. Katie's entire body posture was tense. It showed.
