If Verity hadn't been half out of her mind with loneliness and boredom (really, a journal does not substitute for human interaction!), she probably wouldn't have come up to the owlry. By the way that Angelina had so casually come in, she realized that the older girl had come up here for her own purposes- presumably involving actually using an owl, not because someone had noticed Verity hiding up here.
With that realization, Verity relaxed her shoulders a bit. The lowering of Johnson's wand only helped more. "From all accounts," she said gently, "you've had a wild couple of days."
The awful thing was that she really wanted to talk to Angelina now. Verity was worried about George, who seemed so withdrawn and a bit too blase about his life's work in the hands of others. Aside from Ginny- who Verity didn't want to worry- Angelina was closest to George. Verity also wanted to talk about Bole... she had no intention of going into the forest after him, but neither did she want him lurking out there.
And all that didn't matter, because she was scared spitless that breathing the same air as Johnson could be condemning her. With every step Angelina took, Verity shifted sideway, pressing into the wall. She was trying to be subtle, but suspected she sucked at it right now. Rather than answer Angelina's question, she "hmmm"ed noncommittally and tried to deflect. "What about you? You must have been up all night with this business."
