Everything, all of it, wasn't what she was expecting at all. Some chocolates maybe, a souvenir, but not this. She was embarrassed that he'd gone to so much trouble, that he thought so highly of her to spend a ridiculous amount of money on an occasion he didn't really have cause to celebrate.
