Lavender and Open
Lavender was scared all the time. She did her best not to let it show, but she couldn't hep herself, every now and then, from looking over her shoulder to make sure that the constant, cold prickly feeling at the base of neck didn't indicate someone standing behind her. Every night was full of nightmares. Her days were a constant struggle to stay present in her own mind.
It wasn't as though her fears were unfounded, either. There were Death Eaters out there. Greyback was out there, somewhere. There were Death Eaters in the castle, and now...
Needless to say she was eager to walk hand-in-hand with Parvati down to the Hufflepuff Common Room. After last year, they knew where the other common rooms were - with the exception of Slytherin - it had been necessary for survival. Lavender was on edge the entire time until they got inside, looking around for dark menacing figures hiding behind statues or tapestries. She tried not to think about the possibility that the attacker could be someone they knew. That didn't bear thinking about.
Hufflepuff was warm. And there was a blanket fort. It had been years since she'd seen one of those. She'd been about seven when she decided they were for babies. But it was very welcome now. She pulled the now ever-present crystal ball out of her bag and put it next to her little nest of blankets, shifting into a position that she could stare at it while lying sideways.
