Andy had been serious when he'd told Gabriel that he was perfectly content being trapped under an invisble dome as long as Gabe was there too. Okay, it might not be healthy to have so much riding on one person, but Andy honestly had nothing else; his friends, so-called, were all Death Eaters and one of those was a sadistic maniac who he'd used as more self-flagellation than a true friend, and his parents as good as gone, his sadist father in Azkaban and his mother... the less said about her the better, he wasn't touching that one with a ten foot pole. He'd had no support network and more than a lifetime's worth of guilt on his shoulders and it was the honest truth that he felt that there was nothing left for him but Gabe - he hadn't had to send a goodbye owl to anyone else after all.
He'd felt a little better since he'd embarked on this new avenue of being completely and even brutally honest with Gabe about how he felt and what he thought, even if he was a little concerned sometimes that he was coming on too strong for the fragility of their rekindled maybe-relationship. He'd been keeping his promises as well and even though it was still an epic struggle to force at least one meal down his throat a day he was still managing to do so. Sure he was still taking Pepper Up and Dreamless like it was going out of style, although it was getting harder to find sources of it without raiding the Infirmary which he didnt really want to do, but that wasn't unusual, that wasn't destructive. Right? He got on with his day better when he was taking them anyway, so it couldn't be bad.
He'd been unnerved by seeing Lucian's face pop up in the journals though, especially covered with blood the way it seemed to be. He remembered the demented glee with which his former partner had drawn his blood to the surface, gaining more enjoyment from his agony and the way his heartbeat couldn't help racing in animal fear than fucking him the way he did sometimes. Andy knew Lucian got off on the terror of others around him and was sickened at the part of him that wanted to seek out the maniac; sickened because he knew it wouldn't be in the hopes of bargaining his pain for the safety of the children within Hogwarts at the moment, knowing that Lucian would keep his word only for as long as it suited him, but because he still felt as though he deserved it. He couldn't punish himself anymore, even if he did pick the most uncomfortable and uninhabitable places around the castle to curl himself up and sleep, and he needed someone to do it.
His mind was on Gabe as well, of course, but for different reasons. He knew about the sickness that was going around and stripping people of their magic and to think of Gabe like that, unable to do good in the way that he seemed to live to do made Andy feel sick himself. He knew there was no point asking Gabe not to help out though, which is why he hadn't tried last time either. He hadn't heard from Gabe in a while though, long enough that he had time to worry himself into thinking the worst which was why he was roaming the castle looking for his former-boyfriend now; if it had the additional side-effect of keeping an eye out for Lucian too well that was just a bonus.
He'd swept the Infirmary and the Astronomy Tower as well as hanging around and asking the people around the Gryffindor Common Rooms. He'd had no luck so had decided to start sweeping the castle working from the oustide in. He'd been making his way towards the furthest edge of the barrier when he caught sight of a familiar frame almost wedged into a space in the courtyard wall and his heart panged to see it. It felt a little like watching some bird of prey, something proud and free and unaware of it now caught and hobbled to a post, hooded. Gabe looked hooded and Andy was making his way towards him before he could question the decision, halting a few feet away and slightly to the side so that he wasn't coming up directly behind Gabe. "Hey?" he said, soft and as unwilling to startle as possible.
