If Adrian was bolder or they weren't supposed to be taking things slowly, he might have done something when Angelina climbed over him. The move smacked of teasing, but before he could retaliate somehow, she was curling herself against him and settling in like she didn't want to be anywhere else. There was that weird thrill in his midsection again and…right, he was reading. "This? Frankenstein. Supposedly a muggle classic." He'd only just started it, and wasn't sure what to think just yet. The book in the sitting room was a wizarding novel and one he'd read several times. He wasn't thinking about either, though, as she leaned over and kissed him. His voice was a little rough a minute later when he said, "No need for that, Johnson." Resorting to surnames might have been a bad sign any other time, but it was entirely fond as he grinned at his book.
He allowed Angelina to do whatever she wanted with his arm to get comfortable, pleased to find the end result actually was. She was slight enough that she fit against him without his having to stretch to reach both sides of the book. The only readjusting he did was his head against the pillows.
How was it that something so out of the ordinary could be so…normal? Exciting, to the point that he was finding it hard to focus on the words in the book, but normal enough that it didn't feel strange. The deep breath Angelina took seemed to settle something in Adrian's chest. "I think I'll manage," he said teasingly, with a glance at the top of her head. After a moment's hesitation, he shifted the book to a one-handed grip, the other palm splaying against Angelina's back gently. Then his thumb started to move back and forth in slow sweeps.
"This is nice," and oops, he said that out loud, just above a whisper. His finger stuttered in its pattern, but he recovered with a soft huff of laughter. He could count on one hand the nights he'd spent just sleeping with someone. On less than one hand, in fact. It was novel, to have someone with him because they were genuinely interested in him as a person. He chalked part of that up to being an adult and knowing the value of restraint. Of patience.
