"We couldn't have that," he said, in response to her threatening insanity. It was difficult to speak around the grin he wore, because Merlin's beard. She sure new how to stroke a guy's ego. And then turn him straight on his head. She also seemed to know just what she wanted, and that? That was maybe the best part. He probably should've known it was only a matter of time before she managed to make him blush, but it happened at last, though he was laughing when it did. His private bits? Not yet? At the very least that required covering his face with his hands, though it didn't hide the quaking in his shoulders from uncontrolled amusement. Honestly, his sides were starting to hurt. He'd lived so long in the shadow of being a Slytherin - of being the son of purists - that everything felt freeing. Even laughing so hard his face started to ache and flirting with a girl who'd stood up for what she believed in at the risk of her own life.
When he thought about what might have been, it didn't touch him the way it once had. The thought of marrying someone he didn't love or barely knew just because it was expected of him didn't send fear lancing through his lungs, because it didn't have to happen anymore. Adrian walked away from that life, and though that in and of itself was terrifying, it was also worth it for the chance to discover who he really was. Which so far had evolved from someone slightly abrasive to someone capable of actually having a good time. (If he liked the person or people he was having it with, anyway.)
"I was - sort of thinking the same thing. About it happening the right way, that is. Not rushing it. If we're being completely honest, it's not like I'd say no, but I'm - this is fun, and different for me. It'd be a damn shame to risk ruining it for that." They didn't need a timeline, for goodness' sake, sky falling or not. "I vote we pretend to be mature adults and go together." Especially since she wasn't even a little wrong in saying that the bed was comfortable. It was worlds beyond anything offered in the dormitories, with the added bonus of being by itself in the room. No need to listen to a bunch of other boys snoring or comparing family trees (Adrian would be willing to swear to it happening more than once).
Having Angelina there just meant he would be sleeping in a bit more than he usually wore. During the winter, the flannel pants and t-shirt weren't far off, but the weather wasn't that cold yet. They didn't really even need the fire, but it seemed to set the mood a bit for a relaxing evening.
Whatever happened would happen when it was meant to. Deciding that was the case, Adrian got up and went to change into something better for sleeping. It ended up being the same pants as their night in the kitchens, but a different shirt, with no socks. Angelina was obviously already dressed for bed, so he would let her follow in her own time. He settled onto the side where he normally slept, oddly enough the side opposite where she'd been earlier. Odd, but at the same time, enough to bring a private little smile to his face. There was a different book on his bedside table, so he picked that up, seemingly remembering at the last minute to douse the lights in the main room once Angelina had joined him.
He didn't mind one bit if she wanted to cuddle or curl around him as he read. It would be something new, something he'd never bothered to indulge in before, but he'd just got through saying he was willing to experiment. Angelina could do what she liked. If she wanted to stay the night, that was fine by Adrian. He'd offered up his rooms for a reason. That is was mutually beneficial didn't bother him in the slightest, either.
"Maybe tomorrow we can hunt down some of those board games you mentioned. Get the elves to send the leftovers back up to us for lunch." Adrian realized after the fact that it sounded like he was asking her to stick around longer than just the night.
