If Jamie's mind went down any path but the one related to their conversation, he didn't let on. Didn't even smirk, because most of the time, his brain simply didn't work that way. His expression did turn curious, and maybe a little impressed.
"That's - I don't think anyone's ever asked me that before. Having spent a little while with me now, it might not come as much of a surprise that sometimes I have trouble falling asleep. My mind just won't be quiet. When it's like that, I think about autumn in Massachusetts. How the leaves would turn gradually and there would be piles to jump in and pumpkins everywhere and the days would be warm, but the nights cool." Jamie suddenly had a wistful look in his eyes. "I think the reality was probably a lot less idealistic than my memories. When that doesn't work, I imagine all the places I want to go and what I'll do when I get there."
Granted, there were times that that method did the opposite of what it was intended to and he was left lying awake for hours - usually full of a restless energy.
