There wasn't enough room on the window seat for Jamie to tug his knees to his chest like he wanted, so he fidgeted until he was more comfortable, careful of the cards in his hands. Giving him free reign to ask things may not have been the best idea on Theodore's part. Jamie figured he'd realize it sooner or later. "You were looking for someone the day we ran into each other. Did you find them? Were they all right?" He wanted to know what Theodore had done with his summer. What he was planning after school. How he'd gotten interested in tarot in the first place. One thing at a time, he chided himself. And he had another question for the cards, so he held them out after shuffling through.
He had a feeling that the cards were designed not just for yes or no questions, but for those that left him thinking. Then again, he hadn't really come prepared to do any soul-searching. The question he posed sounded a bit juvenile, but he asked it anyway.
"What has the year got in store for me?"
It wasn't quite the same as asking whether they'd survive the coming months, since the answer could be any number of things.
