Chaos was something they'd all become familiar with the previous year. Jamie wasn't really ready for more. He and Theodore were of a mind on that front. He'd only been teasing, anyway, and took the cards back when they were offered. This time they faced him, so he took a few minutes to study the artwork. It was very fine, the detail obviously the work of someone with considerable talent. He imagined they were expensive when new. "These are beautiful," he said. And they were. Even the few cards whose images were darker in nature than the others. They were the ones Jamie passed over the quickest, without even really knowing why. Since he couldn't decide what to ask the cards next, he chose to question Theodore instead.
"What's the best thing they've ever told you? Or can you tell me that? I mentioned the warning label, right? It should also say that I occasionally overstep what's polite." Honestly, it was a real wonder Jamie hadn't lost most of his brightness living with the Dornys for so long. The months he spent at Hogwarts were his saving grace. Within the castle, he could be himself, even if it drove some to distraction. Even the Carrows couldn't stamp it out, though not for a lack of trying. He'd been called a traitor more than once, but it only strengthened his determination to look for a silver lining. They would need that, if Theodore's reading was on point.
