Plopping down across from Theodore, Jamie realized a moment too late that their knees were going to bump. Fortunately, it wasn't hard enough to hurt. Not his, at least. He was a walking hazard. "Sorry!" he said, resting his palm against Theodore's knee quickly. "You all right? I should probably come with a warning label." Jamie withdrew his hand and sat back against the wall. They were still pretty close - not that he minded. He was a tactile person, even on his worst days. If Theodore wasn't okay with their proximity, Jamie hoped he'd say so. But he was supposed to concentrate. "Right, okay. Holding it in my mind." He could focus. Traveling was in the top three of things Jamie wanted to accomplish in his life. And he didn't just want to hit the high points. Paris, Rome, Athens - they were all great. But he wanted to see the tiny hamlets almost untouched by time. The places the rest of the world either didn't know existed or had forgotten. Where history leapt out from the very landscape.
Jamie met Theodore's eyes, waiting patiently. He was more interested than ever to find out what the cards in the other boy's hands hand to say.
