Cormac had been glad of the prisoner transport assignment; he'd been growing bored with nothing but paperwork for the last couple of weeks. He was still low man on the totem pole when it came to Hit Wizards (that would change in time, he was sure, but for now he was stuck paying his dues), and always seemed to get stuck with the boring assignments. This though, this was going to be an interesting night.
He was eager to be helpful, and to see Carrow brought to justice. He didn't see the need for a proper trial; just Veritiserum the bastard and be done with it, but he supposed law and order had it's place here. With a proper trial, there would be no question of due process and all that. Even if his solution would be quicker and cleaner. Less painful too, for anyone who would have to testify.
Cormac was on the side of the chamber closest to the lift when Linton got off, and headed towards the inner chamber. He nodded to the man, but didn't move from position. Only a few minutes later the lift dinged again, just as an explosion rocked the world. He was thrown back, head smashing into the wall hard enough to make his vision blurry. It took everything in him to stuggle to his feet, but there was no time to do anything else.
He rushed towards the inner chamber, and the auror fighting against the rubble to get through the door. He turned, and grabbed the first person who was on their feet. "You heard the man. Get help. Now!" That delegated, he turned back to Benjy. "Where's the prisoner? Do you see Carrow among the bodies?"
