"Thanks. It wasn't my first choice, but it is an honor." Even if she did get the job based purely because Weasley wanted the Cornfoot name to back him. The Cornfoots were a big deal all of a sudden. It was almost as if they had risen when the Malfoy's had fallen. Daphne thought that was a shame. The Malfoy's might not have been the nicest of people, but they weren't fake. She knew well enough what the Cornfoot family was like from first hand experience.
She also didn't really catch on that her good fortune was not always so great for everyone else. Really, Daphne just wanted to be in international law though, but the department wasn't hiring. And Stephen wanted her on the Ministers immediate team.
"Oh," she finally followed up with. "I'm sorry. I'm sure there's... something?" Dealing with the magic loss wasn't something Daphne had had to delve deeply into. She wasn't directly affected by it, though she did feel horrible for the people who had lost their magic. Like Lia. But she also knew Lia didn't want her pity. And right now, after the conversation she had had with the other girl, Daphne didn't want to really put too much thought into her just now.
