It was all or nothing now, Grant thought as the question Sabrina asked hung between them. Running his free hand through his hair, Grant knew his cheeks were growing hotter by the minute, he could feel the blood rushing to them. Or was that the pounding of his heart that made him feel dizzy with fear of being rejected?
"I can't give you a beautiful home, jewels with so many glittering facets that they rival the night sky, more money than any one person can spend in a lifetime or any of those things that other men can, Sabrina. You might say that those things aren't important, but they certainly make a hell of a lot of difference in life. I don't know that I will amount to anything more than a shop-keep; and you deserve someone who can make all of your dreams come true, no matter what they are."
Grant breathed a deep sigh and looked down, unable to look at Sabrina now.
