Laura stayed longer at the WNN than she really needed to, asking for more jobs and errands from just about anyone she ran into. The baked goods had been a hit, disappearing from the platter she brought within an hour of arrival. This had brought a beaming smile to the intern's face, and a mental note to make a double batch next time.
She really loved her work, there were so many people and the office was just bustling with activity. Still, as the hour got later, the energy started to wind down and lights dimmed as people filed out and headed for home. Soon, there was nothing left to do but follow suit.
Laura walked out to the street, as she was going to meet her friends for a late dinner in Diagon Alley when a sound caught her ears. Screaming, of the pained variety. Laura pulled out her wand and rushed to the scene, her eyes wide and wary as she scoped the scene out. There was a man on the ground and woman with him, sobbing. "Oh my Godric..." She gasps, frozen for a half second by the scene in front of her.
"What's happening, do you need help?!" She asked a slight note of panic to her tone at the sight of so much blood. She notices that the woman doesn't have a wand in her hand, but she doesn't understand the situation and deferred to instruction. She glanced around again, who had done this? Were they nearby? Were they in danger?
