He'd checked on Draco's condition, of course. He was stable, and was expected to recover, but they were keeping him under to heal. They'd also told him that his son had been in bad shape not just because of his injuries.
The staff--who had been suspicious of him, but at least not outright hostile for the most part--had told him when they intended to let Draco wake, and Lucius was there, off to the side, but still within sight of Draco.
It was painful to watch. Draco and he had had their differences, and his son likely hated him at this point, but he was still his son and he hated to see him suffer. Even if he'd brought most of it on himself.
