Who: Ernie Macmillan and OPEN
What: Hanging out at Honeydukes
Where: Hogsmeade
When: Thursday afternoon
Ernie hated being in Hogsmeade, but David had wanted to go and Ernie had a hard time saying no to his younger brother. David had spent the last school year at Beauxbaton, and had not had the same horrifying experience that Ernie had (which Ernie, and likely his parents, were thankful for). Ernie had been charged with taken his brother to the candy store in a clever ploy by Mr and Mrs Macmillan to get the magicless Hufflepuff to leave the house after his 23rd straight rejection letter from business and the Ministry alike.
The truth was that Ernie hadn’t left the house, he saw no point in it. He didn’t want to. Though, Ernie hadn’t wanted to do much of anything as of late. He barely put on clean clothes, or shaved or ran as much as he’d used to. He didn’t bother with writing his old classmates, or his friends, or do much short of sleep and read.
But, still, he stood at the doo of Honeydukes with his arms crossed, wand at his hip (though at this point, it was nothing more than a sentimental stick that he hadn’t got out of the habit of carrying). Even though no one had been injured in the town in some time (though the attack on George Weasley in Diagon had a lot of people talking) and the dome had been long since lifted, it still felt tense and the air still felt stagnant. Oblivious, David wandered up and down the rows, his arms full of Jelly Slugs and licorice wands and chocolate frogs.
“The candy in France is weird,” His brother complained adding Toffee Knuts to his growing candy pile, but when Ernie didn’t react the boy frowned and moved along. It amazed Ernie, the difference between David and himself at fifteen. Ernie and his classmates had been preparing for war, and David was preoccupied with candy selections.
