Who: Dennis and Faye
What: Random Encounters
When: Lunch break, Monday
Where: Some hallway near the Great Hall
Thankfully, the Great Hall had been returned back to its normal cheerful self. The rafters were gone and the sun was streaming in again. The black banners had been replaced with the House colors as they should have been. All the black and drab of mourning Poppy had dragged Dennis down, reminding him of things he still didn't want to think about. Sure, he had written Colin's name once now, but he was still a long way from the boy he had been two years ago. He was still a ways from being healed.
Still, the Great Hall felt oppressive. Probably because everyone was forced to be there now with the lockdown going on. Dennis didn't like being forced to be anywhere. So. While the other students were being herded in like cattle, Dennis, still smaller than most of the other students despite his recent growth spurt, managed to go unnoticed down a hallway just off the side of the Great Hall. It was quieter and more relaxed.
Pen in hand as well as a pad of paper, Dennis had himself pressed into a nook to avoid detection from Professors and Prefects while he wrote a letter home. He knew when the quarantine came down, he still had to finish out the rest of the school year, but he would finally be able to get a letter home to his parents. He hadn't seen or talked to them since he'd run away the day they tried to put him on the train to Durmstrang. And he still felt awful about that.
At the sound of shoes clicking down the hallway, Dennis pulled in on himself a little tighter and stopped writing so the sound of his pen scratching on the paper wouldn't draw any attention to himself. It was still a well used hallway that he had hidden himself in. He wasn't silly enough to steer away from well traveled places, especially not after being taken and nearly killed by Bole. Or, well, he had been killed by Bole, but then later brought back.
This had been one hell of a year, really.
"Faye? You running late for lunch or something? You shouldn't be alone while we're on lockdown!"
