Who: Cedric Diggory and open What: Learning new tricks Where: The library When: Saturday Afternoon Rating: Spooky ghost!
There was a hovering feeling over the school. Sorrow and fear. It was seeping through everything. Cedric hadn't entered the hall this morning, but he had listened from outside. He had heard that a girl had been killed. Someone from his house had been attacked and murdered, probably for no reason. He sighed and wrapped his arms around himself and headed up toward the library.
Cedric wondered if perhaps he could have done something to help. Perhaps if he spent less time just drifting around by himself and more time actively patrolling he might have.... what? Seen it all go down? Been able to coax her through her last minutes with kind words? Jumped out and scared the murderer for a second before he realised that ghosts couldn't hurt him?
Cedric was starting to feel powerless. He passed through the door to the library and into the stacks, walking aimlessly. That felt like all he could do now. There was someone else amongst the books. He could feel them. Or more accurately he could feel their emotions. Today he could feel everyone's emotions. He paused at a desk and looked at the book that had been left open. Something about the magic around the number four and its significances in death. His eyes drifted to the bottom of the page but the sentence continue overleaf. Without thinking, without realising what he was doing, Cedric reached out and flipped the page. It turned. He kept reading for a second before recoiling as he realised what happened. "What! What the--WHAT?!" He exclaimed.
