At first, Ellie tried her hand at rationalizing. But after what seemed like ages in the pitch black, enclosed space, the air had started to get hot. Harder to breath, and the girl who had never been afraid of either the dark or small spaces suddenly broke out in such strong anxiety that she couldn't take it anymore. She was more terrified than she had been during the entire war, the reign of the Carrows.
And she started to scream.
Once again her hands went to the top of the coffin, slamming on it, bawling her eyes out while shrieking absolutely bloody murder. There weren't even coherent words, just terrified noises. She doubted anyone would hear her, and freaking out would use what little oxygen she seemed to have left, but she didn't care.
Soon her vocal cords were raw, painful, and her hands nearly ruined, blood pouring from them, but she didn't care. She was getting dizzy. It was so hot. She had the bones of a dead man cracking and breaking under her and everything hurt and suddenly she knew this was it, she was going to die, and she most certainly wasn't ready.
Ellie didn't hear anyone digging, too busy with her own sheer misery and terror, choking on her sobs now, taking in a breath becoming nearly impossible. Her body shook, and quite suddenly she heard a crack and light poured in, followed by what felt to her like cold air in the intense heat of her enclosed space. Screaming she sat up, ready to bolt, her eyes mad and her entire body trembling. She was covered in blood, dirt, her broken nose had finally stopped gushing but there were plenty of other places that she had opened up in her losing struggle to escape.
Pulling her weak body out of the box halfway, she didn't have the strength required to get out of the hole, she dry heaved into the dirt, crying out, gasping for air, unable to calm herself in the slightest before wondering slightly in her hazy mind who had saved her.
Turning, she finally saw Neville Longbottom and though part of her knew she should be thanking him her adrenaline and fear were still too high. "Help me..." she bawled, bloody hands clawing at the wall of dirt. "Get me out of here! Dear Merlin get me out of here, please!" She needed out of the hole, to get away from this place. She still felt as though the entire world was closing in around her as she cried.
