It really was a lovely day, no one could deny that. The air was crisp, fresh, almost like right when the sun would rise, the smell of dew and grass still hung heavily in the air. But the sun was up, shining, leaving an almost ethereal glow on everything around her, beating down gently enough to keep her warm, but not enough to be uncomfortable. She floated lazily on a cloud, yet didn't fall through, the soft material brushing gently against the clear lake underneath, the white material ghosting along low to the water's surface. Ellie reached down, giggling, trying to brush the colorful fish that she could see beneath the shimmering water, but never managing to quite touch their slick scales. She smiled slightly as they darted away, leaving ripples in their wake and glanced up to take in the woods around her, realizing quite suddenly that the trees were made of paper, origami, she wondered how someone could manage such large scale perfection. It really was quite astounding.
But her attention floated back to the surface of the water, and for a moment she considered hopping in, unable to decide if she wanted to get wet though and rolled onto her back, staring up at the sky. She watched a winged snake fly through the air, followed by a rabbit, but none of it seemed particularly odd. She couldn't help but smile at it. It felt nice here, safe. It was a nice change from everything else, but really, she couldn't remember what else there was. This was her only reality.
Floating to the edge of the lake, she hopped onto the ground, walking over to a blanket. She was unsure if it had been there before but it didn't matter, and she sat down, thumbing a chess piece that sat atop a small board, wishing that perhaps she had company, someone to play with. But then again, she supposed it wasn't absolutely wasn't necessary. Maybe she would go for a swim after all.
