This could not be further from the truth. For the time being, Hogwarts does not foresee imposing any rationing as they are still able to get supplies via alternative magical deliveries by House Elves and inward floo network.
First of all, while there is in fact proof that there are a limited number of rogue Death Eaters (though, I’m not entirely sure that they are still referring to themselves as that or have aligned themselves under a new name, nor is there any proof of any particular sycophant rather than just causing chaos). They have certainly not taken over leadership of the school, and Old McG is still as ravishing and matronly as she’s always been, though she wouldn’t let me take her pulse. So.
This, unfortunately, can be confirmed. So far, there have been two known victim, both in residence of Hogwarts, and both female. Names and other identifying details are being withheld to protect the identities of the victims. The Hospital wing is doing what they can to treat the affected, and the aurors are doing what they can to protect the populace during the moon.
I have talked to several members of the staff, as well as some students. And by all accords, everyone feels that the Aurors here are at the very least doing a decent job protecting everyone. There have been several complaints of understaffing, and impossible situations, and a call for the Ministry to even send more Aurors to ensure safety. There was one recorded incident of questionable arrest, but it was short and the charge seemed to be dropped quickly. For more insight, I also spoke to Auror Cyril Peakes, about how he feels that the Aurors are doing to maintain the safety and peace within the quarantine:"The Aurors inside the quarantine are working to the very best of our abilities to protect the residents of Hogsmeade and the students of Hogwarts. We've already eliminated one Death Eater threat and are closing in on a second. We won't rest until we can guarantee the safety of everyone living here."
It’s very clear that the Aurors are doing everything they can despite their limited numbers and resources.
First off all, I would really, really like for everyone to stop talking about those with the virus as if they were less than human. They are all the same people they were before they fell ill, and should be treated as such. You wouldn’t treat a person with Dragon Pox like a wild animal that needs to be put down, so why would you treat anyone with this virus as a lesser person? We took a quick poll of the populace when we entered the dome, and we found that only 11% of the people within the quarantine have contract the virus, and that is surprising to me. You’d think the number would be higher, what with the Ministry trapping them in a bubble breeding the virus amongst each other. But no. 11% which is only approximately 15 people out of the hundred-something that exists within the school and Hogsmeade.
Now, Clearly I’m no Healer, so I went to the sources on this one. I was able to catch a quick conversation with the ever beautiful Healer Sophia Brown in between work. This is what she had to say:"We're not sure how it is spread, though the symptoms seem to last from 5-7 days, and after the magic is gone, they no longer seem to be contagious. As for a cure, there are various people working on it from various angles. I've been conducting my own experiments, and I know some of the other healers have, as well. Slughorn is constantly trying variations of a possible cure."
Talking to Sophia, it’s clear that there are no set answers, but that there are people working diligently to unravel the riddles that are withheld within the virus itself.
