Who: Benjy, Vivie and Open to anyone else who wants to get their clean on.
What: Dead people and a big old mess
When: Backdated to Friday morning, 1st January
Where: Great Hall and surrounding hallways
Rating: Sad times
After spotting Gabe in the rubble, Benjy had done his best to help everywhere he could. Getting caught up in the fact that his best friend was dead wasn't going to help anyone. He was an auror. It happened, these things happened, and he had work to do. It needed to take a back burner and he couldn't let himself feel about it now. A few hours and he could give in and that would be fine, but he couldn't do it now.
The sun rose the next morning, somehow, like nothing had even happened. Benjy was still at work in the Great Hall. The room had finally stopped shifting and it seemed everyone who had been injured in the explosions had been sent safely to the Hospital Wing. He had sent some of the other Aurors to check the wing as well as the Common Rooms and surrounding areas to make sure it was all structurally sound for now. Everything came back good.
With the light streaming through where there had once been ceiling, cold air, almost like it was going to snow, Benjy was getting back to work. He hadn't slept, he hadn't tried to take a break, freeing people from where they had been trapped. But now that everyone who was alive seemed to be free, there was a whole new task. There were still bodies, and he knew there were still people buried under the rubble, though there was no more life signs when he scanned for them.
Moving first Gabe into the hallway, Benjy still didn't allow himself to feel it yet, even as he spelled a sheet over his friend. He didn't look back, not yet, as he went back into what had once been the Great Hall. Two hours in and there were several more bodies in the hallway with his friends, not all of which had been found by him. But he was working on someone new now. He had spotted a patch of clothing under some rocks and started to dig. It didn't take long until he recognized, even without seeing a face, the person he was digging up. "VIV! VIV, Help! I need your help! It's- It's Reese."
