Roth had heard about the strange, wild magic that had been changing people randomly, but he'd been preoccupied with his own interests to pay much attention.
That was until he randomly became a ghost. He hadn't been able to take any appointments since it had started, though he had managed to inform the people who attempted to sign up for one. He could still speak, thankfully. But he couldn't lift anything, couldn't eat or drink, couldn't really sleep, either. It was quite torturous. The only upside that he could see was that he could pass through walls, and remain unseen if he chose.
He'd one a fair amount of snooping, which was mildly entertaining, but then he thought to visit Bole. At least it would alleviate some of the poor boy's boredom, even if it would still be unsatisfying. He hoped the spell wouldn't end while he was in there, of course, but if it did... well, the fun was in the risk, after all.
Predictably, the young man lunged at him, and Roth did try to concentrate on being somewhat solid, but it was no use. Bole passed right through him. "I don't think you'll manage it, but you're welcome to try," he said quietly. Even his voice was of a different quality than normal, breathy and insubstantial.
