The second that Dean read Neville's journal, he was rushing through the corridors. He would have replied with something, but he didn't have time. After ten days of searching, Seamus was back! His best friend was at the school again! And there wasn't a moment to spare! Or well, except for that one brief moment that he tripped over his feet down a few stairs. Maybe Ginny was rubbing off on him more than he realized with her own graceful falls.
While some people thought the worse, or believed the journal that Seamus had posted, Dean didn't. Not for one second, knowing that they'd see each other again. Even if the days were no where near the amount of time that he was on the run last year, Dean felt a small fraction of what his best friend might have felt as each day passed.
He only slowed down his quick pace just before he arrived at the hospital wing and pushed the doors open as his heart rate returned to normal, unsure what kind of state he would find Seamus in. And as much as he tried to guess, it wouldn't have been anywhere close to the appearance he saw before him.
It didn't stop him from feeling partially responsible, especially since he had already connected the dots on exactly who had taken the blonde. Alecto Carrow. Simply because the deranged woman threatened that she would see Seamus next the last time he had seen her.
Even so, Dean tried not to show what he felt on his expression as he uttered a single word. "Hey, mate," he replied with a smile that matched in return. When his best friend hurt, it was hard not to feel the same way. It took him a bit to sit carefully at the end of the bed, and even more careful hand on top of Seamus' own. For now, that was good enough. "Been looking all over for you. How do you feel? Er, besides the - " he paused in his words with a quick shake of his head. The question made him feel stupid, especially since Seamus looked in obvious pain. "I missed the bloody hell out of you."
