Hermione had ignored Madam Pomfrey on her way in, supposing that if she was confident she wouldn't be stopped. Or Madam Pomfrey had too many other things to worry about.
She waved her hand dismissively as Ernie started to suggest the abundance of things that could go wrong. Of course they could, all of that was possible, but Hermione had more things to worry about, she thought there was probably a bigger picture, and she'd been miserable for a good few days when she'd lost her magic, she wanted to make things better for Ernie. He was beating himself up too much. And if he was in the same boat as her then he needed to be caught up on all of the reading and the other parts of their classes that didn't need wand work.
"I'll bring you more work tomorrow, so you can keep caught up. Even if the worst happens you don't want to have wasted all this time. I'm sure there's loads of things we can do. Not that I'm putting you in the same boat as me, I'm sure we want and like different things-" she rambled, trailing off, her cheeks colouring slightly.
