Ernie had reservations about going to the Halloween party, but to be honest, Ernie had reservations about most things. But, short of spill punch on a professor, the night had gone well. He’d socialized an appropriate amount (which was at least ten times more than Ernie normally did), hung out with a few mates and spent a lot of time making a fool out of himself with Ellie. But it was comfortable and even though it was way later than he’d normally stay out, he was actually humming to himself rather happily, and a bit surprised to find that he was the first person to return to his dorm.
Of course, he was still treated to a bit of a surprise of his own as he stood there, staring at the misty figure that seemed to be perched on his bed waiting for something. Used to the sights of ghosts, though usually only the house ghosts, he was more curious than frightened as he approached the etherial figure, trying to keep his smile light as he moved towards his bed.
“Hey, Mate, lovely night.” Ernie greeted a bit awkwardly, nodding his head at the figure as he tried to make out the details.
