PHOENIX BAY
It is the year 2017 and the Torchwood team has done its best managing the rift with only a three-man team, (Jack Harkness, Gwen Cooper and Martha Jones) for the last 12 years, that is until things started to change. While it was always expected for people and other beings to slip through the rift here and there, the numbers seemed to be on the rise. The thing that worried the team the most was that not only humans were coming through. The team was finding that beings such as vampires, werewolves, and so many other kinds were arriving and unable to register who was safe and who wasn’t led to Jack Harkness to consult with other experts: the Watchers Council, led by Rupert Giles, and the Cullens, led by Carlisle Cullen and his family.
The Watchers Council had moved to Wales after the fall of Sunnydale. They had to find a new place to form their base of operations once the First Evil was defeated, and while Giles would have preferred to return to London, it became obvious that Cardiff was where they needed to set up. Two years after Giles made his new home Cardiff, he reluctantly agreed to work with Angel and his team as well, once he became aware of their actions to bring down Wolfram and Hart. While Giles had seen a rise in vampire and other demon activity, he wasn’t aware how bad it had become until he was approached by Jack Harkness. Again, Giles reluctantly agreed to work with the Torchwood team, if only to maintain the safety of the citizens of Cardiff.
The Cullens were an odd choice for Jack to choose, but he had become aware of their presence in Cardiff only after they defeated the Volturi in Italy. The battle between the two began after the Cullens were falsely accused of creating an immortal child. That was only the tipping point in the beginning of the end for the Volturi. The Cullens always knew that there had to be laws in order to maintain the secrecy of their kind, but the rule of the Volturi always seemed to be too much. The other issue of their rule was Aro and his penchant for “collecting” those with special abilities that he desired to be in control of. The Cullens knew that none would be safe if Aro remained in control so that left them no choice but to stop the Volturi as a whole. The Cullens and their many friends prepared for the battle, and while they nearly lost everything as they fought, however they managed to pull through defeating the Volturi in whole While Carlisle didn’t relish in the thought of having to kill others of their kind, but he knew there was no other way.
The three groups now work together to keep the city of Cardiff and the rest of the world safe from whatever makes it through the rift. Those who have been deemed safe by The three groups can find jobs and homes within the city of Cardiff, or they can attend or teach at the local university, Phoenix Bay University. Each person is given a laptop and money to get started, a debit card with £2000.

The Quidditch Pitch
Coming off it's most successful year in a century, the British & Irish Quiddich League 2007-2008 season is about to start. Just a few short weeks before the season opener, the Quidditch world is rocked by scandal. It has been exposed that members of last season's champions, the Kenmare Kestrels, were taking illegal performance enhancing potions, calling their historic undefeated season into question.
Those involved in the scandal, including players and team administration, have been removed from the active duty, pending investigation. The Kenmare Kestrels are hastily filling the newly opened positions in time for the start of the season. New calls for increased Ministry oversight of the BIL have emerged, citing this most recent incident.
Meanwhile, the Chudley Cannons are pinning their hopes on a new international player that will finally ensure (they hope) that the team will finish any place but last this season. The Holyhead Harpies have signed their first openly transgender player, causing a ripple among the Quidditch world. The Wimbourne Wasps have been bought by a new owner, who recently won a WWN contest that made dreams come true.
