In the 1950s, following years of war, people looked for a better future with grand ideas and dreams. Never again would the world teeter on the brink of destruction. The Silverbeam Alliance, formed from shiny idealism mixed with deep-seated terror, swore the continuance of mankind.

They would create a utopia. They pooled resources, bought an island and created their ideal city. They built MABEL, a supercomputer tasked with monitoring babies born in coming years from afar. Tested and tracked into adulthood.

The people who create MABEL grew old and died, but MABEL never slept. Nobody told her to stop monitoring or working on the city of New Eden.

Now she has decided the time has come to save mankind.

How did my character get to the island?
Each character receives an invitation designed to tempt them. For example, an all expenses paid vacation to the island. Or maybe to be a contestant on a reality TV show. Maybe they are a research student who got a surprise grant to study something on the island - use your imagination!

How are people chosen to come to the island?
MABEL chooses people from all walks of life, though she is careful to choose people she feels have great potential, and are disease-free. She is also partial to people whose ideals match up with her creators, i.e. 1950s outlooks. But standing out in any way makes someone viable, whether it's a scientific mind, a great artist, or even an exceptional housewife. People are chosen from all over the world.

The island is beautiful. It's about 7 square miles, and the center of it is covered with a huge dome. Inside that dome is a controlled environment. Some of it is dedicated to growing food and maintaining other natural resources.

Then there's the Atom Fun amusement park! All space age rides and fully automated, it's a great time for the whole family. It's centered around the crystal bottomed lake. The light filters through the bottom of the lake to the city below.

Subterranean New Eden - meticulously designed to give a feeling of space and calm in a very limited area. Daylight is filtered in using filter optics and at night a replica sky provides starlight with no pesky cloud cover to spoil the view.
