Chains (FFX, Seymour/Yuna
Title: Chains
Setting: FFX
Character(s)/Pairings(s): Seymour/Yuna
Warnings: None
Yuna chose to remain by the window, despite Seymour's request that she come to bed. Her palm was pressed against the cold glass and the faint rumblings of the Thunder Plains were a faux cover for her attention. She was in truth, lost in a swirl of emotions that she, for the life of her, could not sort out. The summoner had parted ways with her guardians a few hours before her current dilemma and she had willed that she would be strong as she watched them leave. She would see them again, in the morning, as a matter of fact.
And yet when she was alone with Seymour and the daunting bed with the elaborate headboard, Yuna couldn't help but feel lonely and out of place. The servants doted and fawned over her, getting whatever she requested on her whim. Yuna had never experienced that type of lavish attention before and she found it to be mildly irritating. She didn't need them to bring her a glass of water or smooth out her skirts. She was capable of doing these things herself. But it as at Seymour's insisting and it made Yuna wonder if he got some enjoyment out of ordering people around.
The glass of the window pressed against her shoulder as she rested against it and crossed her arms across her chest. The sky was dark and foreboding and Yuna wished the clouds would swallow her. She could hear Seymour rustle beneath the sheets of the bed and Yuna shivered. She knew the bed would be much colder than the air around them. She glanced back at her husband. He seemed peaceful and Yuna gasped when her eyes met his. "It's late, Yuna," he said, propping himself up on one arm. Yuna turned to face him and looked bashfully at the floor. "I know, Maester Sey--"
He sat up and put his hand up in protest. "Please my lady. No formalities. You and I are wed. You've nothing to call me but yours."
He rose from the bed and Yuna felt her cheeks flush at the sight of him and his bare torso. His long hair had been brushed from its normal style and was tied back with a satin ribbon. She turned back to the window and shivered again when his hand came to rest on her shoulder. "What is out there that holds your interest?" he asked, standing beside her and clasping his hands behind his back. Yuna said nothing, instead choosing to cast a sidelong glance at Seymour. His frame was strong and towered above hers. His shoulders were broad and the blue hair swept back behind him in a small wave. There were invisible chains binding her to him. Chains, that tugged and pulled and threatened to drag her down with every moment she spent with him. Yuna could feel it and she wondered if Seymour could feel it too.
His silk like chuckle caught her attention and she glanced at him. “I will not bother you anymore. Come to bed whenever you are ready.” She watched him in silence as he returned to bed, slipping beneath the sheets and sighing comfortably. With a glance outside once more, Yuna straightened her nightshirt and crawled into bed and curling up. A raucous thunderclap caused the girl to curl closer to her husband in comfort. The mattress shifted and she felt him fumble until he encountered her shoulders. He drew her closer and Yuna hesitantly placed her cheek against his chest. She could hear his heart beating in his chest and the chains that bind tightening around her.
