Hi guys! As we stated in the Read-and-Love-athon sign up post, as a companion to this event, we're encouraging everyone to rec their old favorites or newly discovered fics and art on IJ and GJ here. This is completely optional even if you've signed up to participate in the Read-and-Love-athon, so don't feel pressured! But if you'd like to share your recs, here's the place to do it!

As some of you may know, one of the Phoenix Flies mods, crucio_4_coffee has had to leave fandom on a temporary basis because of real life problems. In her absence, and due to my own busy schedule, we'll need a few more co-mods for this fest - to keep things running smoothly with posting and to help with the weekend events. In particular, we're scheduled to have an event this upcoming weekend, while I am scheduled to be out of town, with no computer access - in order for this to happen, I'll definitely need help.

I'm very sorry that we had a delay in posting earlier last week while things were being sorted out ... I want to thank you all for your patience, and I hope that it won't happen again. I can't make any guarantees for this weekend yet, but I'll do everything that I can to make sure that things go more smoothly in the future (everything short of abandoning my other obligations or being in two places at one time, which is quite difficult.)

Welcome to The Phoenix Flies Kick-off Friending Frenzy!


At over 70 members, more than 180 watchers, 60 prompts and more than 40 claims, we're off to a fantastic start! (Rumor has it that there are fics that are already done and ready to be posted... submission guidelines will be posted soon.) So while we all wait for next Monday's posting to begin, we're going to start things off with a little friending frenzy. Now's the time to catch back up with all your old friends from The-Site-Which-Must-Not-Be-Named as well as making some new ones as well.

Now, let the word go forth that the friending frenzy has begun! (That means "pimp.") This frenzy is being hosted by phoenix_flies but anyone may participate. You don't have to be a member or watcher to have fun and make friends here (although, of course, we hope you'll want to watch and play along!) Posting begins on August 27th and the next community event is scheduled for September 8-9. (Specific details to follow soon!)

So what are you waiting for? Get to friending!

Prompts are open for the claiming!

Ok, first things first:

Thank you. You, watcher, and you, member, and you, lurker. You, you, you, all of you.
We've got some great stuff to work with here - this is going to be a terrific fest.

Now.

Our original goal with accepting prompts was to keep them shipless so that writers/artist would have total freedom in how they could interpret the phrase. However (and this is my bad), I didn't mention that in the call-for-prompts post and so many people suggested prompts that included pairings.

So. Here's the deal.

Each prompt will be listed as it was given, pairings/characters included. You can either claim the prompt as-is or claim it with intention to modify the pairing. Since we're giving you a choice, we will allow for four claimers per prompt: one claimer each for fic and art for the as-is and one claimer each for fic and art who wants to modify the pairing. So the key is to let us know what you intend to do.

Please put "as-is" or "will modify" in the subject line of your comment. In the comment, tell us which number you will be claiming and let us know whether you will be providing art or fic. Claims are on a first-come, first-serve basis, so peruse and mull quickly as claiming will end at 12:00am, EST, Monday, August 27.

Why? because it's a shit-load of coding and I'm supposed to be doing laundry So that you can go go search back through the prompting post here and look up the person who suggested your favorite prompt. Get to know them a little. Because the first friending frenzy is NEXT WEEKEND! August 24 - 26, peeps!
