Yes, almost certainly rooks. They nest in rookeries, and the old trees around churchyards are favourite spots. They are brash and noisy and very fun. They're also seen at the side of motorways (highways?), strutting along. They rarely seem to get hit by traffic, tg, and don't ruffle a feather when some huge lorry goes past.
