Lucius stood on the cliff, staring down at the tumbling waves below, every charging forth and receding, just like status in his own life. Events of the war rendered him a changed man. His thirst for power nearly cost him the life of his child, his wife, himself. His home was invaded, left haunted by countless victims. He had tortured children. He was disgusted by what he had become. Absently tossing a pebble over the edge, he knew the truth. He was nothing more than a drop in the ocean. One of many. Nothing specially. Just lucky to be alive.
