Giovanni Battista Gaulli, called Baciccio Saint Joseph and the Infant Christ, c. 1670-85
Stong hands, working man's hands yet gentle with the most precious of things. Face weathered and creased but shining with joy and awe.
The child who would be Christ, Seemingly untouched by the burden he will carry in too short a time.
A moment an artist captured, captures the heart like none other, for that is how my father looked when I was in his hands.
