He knew exactly what she meant because he felt the same way. She didn't even have to say anything other than those four words. "I haven't either but already I can pick up on a couple of words. I mean, I know a good bit of French and I'm pretty fluent in Spanish but Greek isn't like either of those languages, not even a little and the alphabet is vaguely familiar to our own, but.... It seems like I've been living the past few days in 'and yet's and 'but's. The food seems different though."
He opened his mouth to say something else, but shut it thinking that it was too weird even for this situation (whatever the hell it was) to mention it. Instead he took the fresh bottle of water the waitress had brought and took a swig. Since coming to Athens, the food hadn't seemed right. He couldn't place it and it wasn't just that it was foreign. It literally tasted odd. He couldn't describe it and decided to put it aside.
"Have you had anything weird happen to you after coming here?" he asked, leaning back again for their food to be served.
