Written for blodeuedd83!
Arwen sat upon a bench in one of the gardens in Rivendell. Around her were many flowers. In all of Rivendell she herself was one of the most beautiful flowers. She sat there holding a rose Aragorn had given her the night before. Today he had left with the Hobbit to Mordor...along with the other Elf, Legolas.
In the past two months that the Fellowship had been there Arwen has professed her love to Aragorn even more and had decided to become mortal. But at the same time a new friend, a new sort of love came. Legolas had charmed her. He had told her stories of Mirkwood and what he had done in his life.
She had never felt so strongly towards another Elf in her life, and yet, she was in love with a mortal and could not break it. Legolas had kissed her on the cheek once. Arwen blushed in the secret garden they were in. He held her hand to his breast and said even though she was another's she would always be in his heart.
Arwen said they could not do this, and Legolas knew they were right. Arwen was the beauty of the flower she held as she sat on that bench, and she had the love for another like the Nightingale. Arwen could not figure out why she had feelings for this Elf and him for her. For years she had loved Aragorn, and once this Elf from Mirkwood came she felt a special thing for him like she did for Aragorn. It was equal but not quite so. Her love for Aragorn was strong, but her love for Legolas was sweet and simple.
Arwen spun the rose in her hand and smelt it. It was as sweet as it was the night before. Arwen and Aragorn kissed that night on the bridge in front of the waterfall. It was magical it seemed to Arwen, just as it was magical when Legolas kissed Arwen's cheek.
She looked once again at the rose. She loved them both, but she knew who she had to love more. In the future, Legolas could be her friend. A very dear friend.
