Rosie woke to find herself between her two loves: Frodo and Sam. It was a cold winter morning, and she was amazed that the fire in the bedroom had not gone out. She remembered last night the other two insisted that she sleep in the middle as so she would not get cold.
She first looked at Sam. He had one arm around her waist. His breath was quiet and he had a faint smile on his face.
Sam always told her that he loved her whenever the moment was free. They kissed often and he would take his lady and spin her around in his arms. Rosie felt like she was the queen of her own world, just by being held by him. Rosie was called 'love' and 'my rose' and would blush and smile. This only made him do it more.
The two would dance in BagEnd while Frodo watched. Sometimes Frodo would sing for them songs Bilbo had told him.
She now looked at Frodo. He had his head rested on he shoulder and an arm on Sam's. Grey hairs were coming out and Frodo was no longer looking like a young tween. After the Ring, Frodo finally started to age, but he was still beautiful to Rosie.
Frodo locked himself up in the study a lot, but when the three went for walks, he seemed like a different person than the one who hid behind a door. His green eyes shown and there was a hop in his step. But once they reached BagEnd again, his face changed to something sad and he sat alone in the parlor or in his bedroom. Sometimes he would study his face in the mirrors around the smial. Rosie smiled to Frodo as his eyes opened.
"Good morning, Frodo."
"Good morning, Rosie, love," Frodo said softly. "Is Sam awake?" He leaned up to get a look at Sam. After the quest Frodo was more dependent on Sam. Sam was his comfort. Frodo would get chills and nightmares about the quest and it seemed like only Sam could calm him. In this, Frodo grew to love Sam's wife as well.
"No, not yet." She paused for a moment. "How are feeling this morning? Any dreams?
"None today. I'm glad for it,too. Whether it be a good or bad dream, I want neither. "
"Well, that's good."
"What is good?" Sam asked. He was sitting in bed now. His hair was everywhere and he was rubbing his eyes.
"I didn't have any dreams last night," Frodo answered.
Sam smiled. He loved Frodo just as much as he loved Rosie. He didn't know what he'd do without them. He felt like it was his duty to take care of them both and he found it easy. Rosie was his light in the day, and Frodo was his stars in the night. While Sam was caring for one love across Arda, another love was waiting for him at home. And when he arrived back to Hobbiton with two loves, his life was fulfilled.
Frodo squeezed Sam's hand. Sam smiled at him and Rosie. This they all knew was the beginning of a good day.
