Summary: Wilson and Cuddy go to a bistro for coffee after the art exhibit.
Written for the wilson_fest challenge.
Wilson opens the door for Cuddy at the little bistro. They chose a table, and are soon handed menus. Wilson looks closely at his menu, while Cuddy doesn't look at it at all. She begins to tap her fingers on the table and says, “That was-was...”
“-The kinkiest art exhibit I've even been to, “Wilson finished for her.“We could have to gone to the regular part of the museum-”
“-But we were curious,” she finishes for him. Wilson laughs at how they're finishing each other's sentences and she smiles.
The waitress comes back and asks them for their orders. “Black,” they both say, and they both laugh as the waitress smiles and take their menus. They're soon handed black coffee in two huge coffee mugs.
“I didn't know you like your coffee black,” Wilson says.
Cuddy nods her head while she idly stirs hers. “I used to drink it this way in college. Thought it would keep me awake longer.” She smiles. “So, what was you're favorite art piece?”
Wilson blushes and mumbles something.
“What was that?” Cuddy asks leaning in.
“The leg and arm shackles.”
She grins. “Why?”
“I can't tell. It's embarrassing.”
“It's okay. I won't tell anyone.”
“I've always had this fantasy of being tied to the bed,” Wilson says looking down. “Not in shackles, though. Something softer, like a scarf.”
“I have plenty of scarves.” Cuddy says and then she blinks realizing what she just said. “Not, that'd use them for that. Most of them are used for my-my neck and for decoration in the house.”
“I bet they look nice in your house. They usually look nice around your neck or waist.”
“You noticed that I do that?”
He looks up. “Mmmhmm. I've always thought it made you look chic. And I like it when you wear those belts with a dress.”
Cuddy smiles again and says, “Thank-you ,Wilson. Wilson?”
“Hmmm?”
“Can I call you James again? We used first names at the play, so I thought maybe now we could?”
“Oh, yeah! Sure, sure.” He takes a sip of his coffee. “What was your favorite piece?”
“I liked the painting of the man and woman entwined with each other. What was it called again?”
“I'm not sure. Some thing with an 'W' I think.”
“With You! It was called 'With You'. I think that's a perfect name for the piece don't you?”
Wilson takes another sip of his coffee. “Yes, it fits it perfectly.” He smiles at Cuddy and says, “I think that piece was kind of romantic.”
“That's why it's my favorite, James.” She drinks her coffee long and slow. Finally she says, “What would be the use of the bicycle pump? I can only think of one thing and it doesn't seem pleasing.”
“Maybe the just use it just for air?” Wilson suggests. “You know to blow along the body?”
“Probably.”
They finish their coffee in silence and get up to go when they both pull out their wallets.
“I'll pay,” says Cuddy.
“No, I will. My treat” Wilson lays the dollar bills on the table along with a tip. He reaches for Cuddy's hand, who surprisingly lets him hold it as they walk out of the bistro.
