When the Dark Arts students entered the classroom for today's respective lessons -- seventh-years at 1.00-2.00PM and sixth-years earlier in the morning at 10.00-12.00PM -- everything seemed normal enough at first. All students were to be seated at their desks with their wands out as Amycus Carrow stood at the front of the room, leering and seeming rather cheery given what sort of class Dark Arts is. For the first few minutes, it seemed as if the class would be spent with the students who passed last week's Imperius Curse exam once again practicing holding the spell for longer intervals on the unfortunate ones who failed. Instead, Amycus announced that given what great progress some students have made (with pointed nods to the Slytherins), there will be a surprise test -- right at that very moment. Anyone who began to protest was immediately shut up using the Imperius Curse. How the testing procedure would work was then briefly explained. Only students who passed last week's test would be examined on how well they can hold a sustained Imperius Curse for several minutes on a selected member from the failed group -- but unlike last time, Amycus went through a great deal of effort to make up the pairings himself and come up with ideas for what each students must make their test subjects do. However, no one will know who they are casting the spell on until they are called up to the front of the class for their turn. Only one test is done at a time so that everyone else must watch carefully. When the examination started, Amycus would call out a name (going in alphabetical order for the passed students by surname) and that student would have to stand up at the front of the classroom. He then announced who the student's assigned test subject would be, and if that students refused to come up, he would cast the Imperius Curse on him or her himself and make them walk up and stand beside the tested student. He then read out what the student had to make his or her subject do to him/herself. This was repeated for each passed student as he went down the list. The pairings and assigned tasks for the examination were as follows (tested students listed with their subject and task below): SEVENTH-YEARS SIXTH-YEARS If the student being tested fails the exam (keeping in mind that sustained Imperius is difficult, especially for the average student) or chooses to be noble by refusing to do it, the test subject will be let off -- but then Amycus will perform the intended task on the examinee instead. The only exceptions are Vincent, Draco, Theodore, Blaise, Sebastian, Grayson, and Augustus -- if they refuse or can't do it, they will be 'kept after class', but be given an easy task like cleaning up the classroom after class is over rather than subject themselves to their own assignments and given a stern reminder about how this sort of behaviour won't be tolerated when they do the Cruciatus Curse next. Fortunately for everyone, Amycus will allow all Dark Arts students to use the hospital wing if needed -- but only because he doesn't want anyone to miss out on next week's first lessons on the Cruciatus Curse rather than out of the goodness of his heart. Additionally, everyone who's admitted to the infirmary must leave by 9.00PM whether they're completely healed or not. ----- To respond to this IC/OOC log, the students who are being tested should leave a comment with their reactions and whether they did the task or not, how they struggled with it, or not, etc. If they were successful, then respective test subject can respond to that comment with their own reactions and aftermath. If the examinee refused or couldn't do it, then we will respond with what Amycus had them do, etc. |
