Dyse did a series of back flips as he got out of the way of a swing. He was fighting Danos, just like he'd done so many times before. Danos dashed through the water after him, but when Dyse landed he waved his hands and created a second copy. His magic swirled and began to form Danos, but fell short of making him look right. His face was off and his wings weren't the right color. The two Danos clashed and locked arms as they struggled against each other. Dyse stood up, breathing heavily as the cost of the magic took it's toll. He rubbed his mouth with the back of his hand to get some of the sea water off.
"By Son of Fate you need to step. it. up..." Rulazo sighed as they crossed their legs and leaned over their lap. Dyse looked over at them, they were sitting on a stone that rose out of the shallow water. Their signature umbrella shaded their concerned face from the harsh sun. Beside them sat Senshan, who was eating a sandwich. He looked bored. "I just want you to do better, and Daughter Fate's going to be so bothered if we fail her."
Dyse sat in the waves, his disguise vanished while he sat. He rested his head in his hands, feeling fatigued. "It's so hard... You're not the ones who are doing all the work." He sighed and splashed the water around with his other hand. "Everyday I'm pushing myself past my limits for her! Daughter Fate's never satisfied" He mumbled bitterly. The cool water felt icy against his overheated skin, but he felt no relief.
"Mmm, don't let her hear that." Senshan snorted as he took another bite. Rulazo smacked his shoulder and he shrugged, "I'm just being truthful!"
"I just don't get why she wants so many copies! They're just fakes." Dyse rolled back and did a bridge before flipping back onto his feet. His wings fanned out in a long stretch. "But you're right Rulazo, since I started training with you I've gotten so much stronger." Dyse did a couple of jumps, splashing the water around while he warmed up. His body was moving slower than normal, he felt so incredibly tired. "Though..." He paused staring down at his golden palms, "Why am I so tired...?" Dyse ran his finger across the inside of his arm and a thin golden streak was left behind.
Dyse looked back at the rock and Rulazo & Senshan were just black and white stills of who they'd been moments before. It was like he'd taken a photograph of the two of them at the beach. Dyse blinked a couple of times before a sad smile crossed his face, "That's right. I'm not home." He raised his hand and with a wave the stills of them vanished. "Just copies. Useless fakes..." Dyse looked back at the water around his calves. He swished it around with his leg. "Fake it til you make it... Right?" He laughed half-heartedly to himself before he dropped to sit again. The brief burst of energy he'd gotten before was gone. His muscles were aching like he'd been dancing for hours. He looked back at his arm where he'd marked it. His eyes widened when he saw that the ink was already gone. "The gold should still be there.. No wonder I'm so tired... I'm out of stamina." He mumbled to himself and rested his cheek on his knees. "When did I run out? I haven't pushed myself recently.." He continued to mumble to cut the growing silence.
Dyse sat there for a while, growing quiet the longer he stayed. He closed his eyes and buried his face in his knees. "Mmmm.. no..." The water suddenly felt distant, "No.... not here not now.." He dug his nails into his skin, each one felt like a different pin stabbing into him. His skin was so hot from the sun's overbearing rays, "Stop stop stop stop stop stop stop stop stop..." The pressure of his nails on his arm didn't feel real. The water stopped feeling cold. He pulled his head back at looked at the grey pants in front of- no his pants. Everything felt distant, he could feel the cotton of his pants on his knees. The fur of his tail brushed his wings like a searing knife. "Stop! Stop! Stop! It! Stop!" He yelled, but his voice sounded like it belonged to someone else. "I don't want to be here! I don't want to be here!" The sun's reflection off the water blinded him. He slapped his hands against his shins, "Go back!" Dyse growled at himself and shut his eyes again. "Go back!" His slaps got weaker after each one until he just gripped his shins instead.
He curled up tighter in the water, his anger was subsiding as he ran out of energy to fuel it. He was left with frustration, "Please... I'm so tired..." Dyse felt like he was melting, gravity got heavier and heavier on his body. "So tired...." He laid back in the water, holding his breath as he was submerged. The fatigue consumed him, and he no longer felt the water. I just want to sleep.... Please let me sleep. I'm so tired...
