Charlie blinked a bit in surprise to hear the word come out of his mouth. From what she’d understood from the story, John Winchester hadn’t known about the life until his wife had died. It was kind of a major plot point, really. She guessed maybe finding yourself a few decades in the future might cause a guy to ask questions, though. Who had told him, though? Surely not Sam or Dean. That didn’t seem like their style. Was Mary maybe there too? She hated to think how much angst that was going to give the boys, but, then again, it might be nice for them to have a chance to really talk to their parents without all the other crap getting in the way. She felt kind of bad for the guy, though. She remembered how much of a shock it had been for her when she saw behind the veil. She didn’t imagine this was much different for him.
“Kind of,” she said with a little shrug. “I’m more of a hit the books, figure out the problem sort of girl. I leave the neck chopping and demon slaying to the….professionals most of the time.” She nodded in response to his next question. “Yeah, I knew. I never actually got the chance to meet them. I just knew about them, and you by extension I guess, from some, er, extended family. I should probably give them a call…” she said, her attention wandering as she pulled out her phone and started scrolling through it. Maybe not a call. Maybe just a quick text. But how did you sum up something like this in a quick text?
