Molly didn’t like it here. She’d liked it better when it was cold and snowy, a side effect she was sure, that came from her now being the Winter Lady. This place had brought both of her parents here, which was not okay. It wasn’t that Molly didn’t love her parents, or that she didn’t want to see them…but she was worried about what might happen. Of course Charity was already blaming Harry, but it wasn’t his fault. It wasn’t anyone’s fault. Molly just happened to be there. Mab had intended for her to become the Summer Lady, and not the Winter Lady. But it didn’t matter. What was done was done, and there was nothing that could change it now. She could already feel herself changing. She was not the same Molly Carpenter that she’d once been. Winter had taken hold of her. It probably wasn’t as strong here, away from the influence of Mab, but that didn’t mean she couldn’t still feel it. Mab was going to be so pissed when they did get back. She and Harry would definitely be in for it. Mab would never believe they’d been kidnapped to a fictional Las Vegas, and had no control over anything. She was so nervous about everything. She didn’t know what she was going to do. It was going to take time to sort everything out, but she couldn’t very well avoid her parents until then, even if she wanted to. She sat across from Harry in the booth, waiting for her parents to show up. She had to have him there with her, because if she didn’t…she didn’t know what might happen. Harry would be able to stop her, if she got out of control. And he was very brave to be here, because Charity was probably going to scream at him. Or worse. There was no telling with Charity Carpenter sometimes. Molly would just have to make her understand that this was not Harry’s fault. Maybe she could do that better in person. And hopefully Michael could keep Charity more calm. Besides, all the shouting in the world would never change what Molly was now. Nothing could. |
