The last time Sharon saw Steve Rogers, he was dying. Shot by -- by someone. The details of that day were all a bit foggy. Whenever she tried to think to hard about what had happened before she reached him, bleeding out on the steps, her head hurt in a way she couldn't describe. She's meant every word that she'd said to Bucky Barnes -- that she'd kill him if he tried to go near Steve -- and she'd thought long and hard about whether or not she was going to tell Rogers what she knew about the Winter Soldier; what she knew about who he was.
Because even if the worlds were different, she was positive she knew what Rogers would do the second he realised that Barnes and the Winter Soldier were one in the same. He'd try to help him, even if that meant putting himself in harm's way. Even if it meant giving Bucky a clean shot and a chance to kill him. A chance she'd seen Bucky try and take in the past.
But she couldn't lie and she couldn't keep it from him. Not when she knew how important Barnes was to him. She knew that he'd find out eventually, and if he thought she'd held back, the damage would be too great. So this was a risk she was going to have to take. A gamble -- but hell if they were in the right city for that.
So she headed down to EyeCandy, ordered herself a whiskey neat, downed it in one shot and grabbed another before heading for a table to wait for Steve. Sharon knew it would take a bit more than liquid courage to get through everything that she had to say, but it seemed like a good place to start.
