Complications; life had the tendency to riddled with them, more so, when you had eternity outstretched before you. There had always been a certain pride taken in the fact that he planned for them; one step ahead, always and forever. Some would call it paranoia. Perhaps they were right, yet, Klaus merely thought of it as a way of existence. Nothing about this mirage of Las Vegas could have been anticipated; the dull and lifeless 'things' that existed in the background, catering to their every whim. Nor the fact that others would be drawn in as well. Another surprise? That his compulsion had been torn away by whatever force brought them here. Camille no longer forgot everything when she wasn't in his presence; quite the opposite, she remembered all of it. Their conversations; the brief glance she had been granted towards his past, the promises that had been made. Every last detail, swirling around inside her head. His motives, while self driven, had also included protecting the young bartender from herself. The path that she had been headed down, the one containing the truth of her brother, would have only ended in heartache and danger.
Klaus had weathered her initial anger; he had always been the rock that others broke themselves upon, and that...wouldn't change. The threats that had existed for her in New Orleans didn't exist here; he had no reason to lie, to compel her further. No war brewed in the air; she didn't have the means to investigate further, though he had been honest with her in his explanation of what happened to her brother. The witches had hexed Sean, and in turn, they paid with their lives. Ultimately, that proved to be little comfort to Cami, for obvious reasons. Her humanity shone brightly; an intensity stronger than the sun...it lit up the world around her, and that had drawn him in from the moment he laid eyes on her. Why shouldn't it? Did being a monster truly mean that you stopped craving the warmth of the sun? And he was a monster, through and through. The kind that other creatures of darkness checked under their bed for. He could take comfort in that, the power, but this woman had the uncanny ability to see through it. He could snap her as if she were nothing more than a twig; and still, she came at him with a ferocity. No fear.
The elevator hummed along; the enclosed space was one that he didn't have to currently share. She had granted him one opportunity to set things right; to prove that she was something more than a pawn in the ever changing battle between he and Marcel; Tucked away in one of his pockets was a bracelet containing vervain; something that hadn't been very easy to come across, but she deserved the protection, none the less. Klaus had contemplated bringing along a rather decent vintage; would she question his intentions then? An idea that was dismissed; if a change of heart occurred, room service could always tasked with it. His artwork...that had been another consideration; but no, as egotistical as he had a penchant to be, this was about her. The time would come, hopefully, when she would elect to meet in his room instead. Then she could see the paintings and the drawings; those that he felt were worth sharing, naturally. Nothing that featured the image of her beauty. A sharp ding and he knew that he had reached the thirty sixth floor.
As he stepped past the sliding metal doors, Klaus allowed his eyes to close, a slow breath drawn in. Camille's scent was mixed in with the others who frequented this level of the building...he could still pick it out with ease. Create the image of her within his head as she wandered down these halls; did her laundry, menial jobs of that nature. He didn't doubt it; despite the things (who were all but lifeless) that were willing to take care of things in that nature, she wouldn't have allowed them. Independent and strong; two qualities that Klaus admired greatly, especially when they were mirrored within her eyes, staring back at him, defiance had never been something that she lacked. Finding the door to her room was easy enough; whether she had a roommate or not mattered little to him. As if he would allow anything to get in the way; a far cry from a date, he was dressed as such...casual yet confident. Knocking lightly on her door, his head tilted. “Open up, love. It's the big bad wolf come calling.”
